» Campus Parking

In response to unprecedented circumstances, the University of Florida will suspend parking decal requirements and raise parking lot gates on the main campus through the month of April.

Please note that gates will remain operational in employee parking areas surrounding UF Health in Garages 1, 2 and 3 to assure access for essential health care providers. Additionally, the Heart and Vascular Neuromedicine Hospital (HVN) and South Employee garages will remain operational and parking decal restrictions apply. Employees are advised not to park in patient and visitor parking areas, as violators are subject to fine and/or removal.

» RTS

Effective Monday, March 16, RTS bus service will operate on a reduced schedule as follows:

  • Reduced Service – Campus Routes 121 and 126
  • No Service – Campus Routes 117, 118, 119, 120, 122, 127 and 128
  • Reduced Service – City Routes 9, 12, 13, 20, 21, 28, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40 and 46
  • No Service – City Routes 19, 27 and 29

All other routes not listed will remain on their regular service schedule.

RTS will move to Summer Service effective Monday, April 6. Impact:

  • Service will end at 11 PM rather than 2 AM
  • Later Gator and Lake Wauburg routes suspended (these changes have been cleared by Student Affairs and RecSports)
  • All campus routes will be suspended (NOTE: coverage will remain as service is provided by numerous city routes which travel through campus and have ample capacity, just less frequent service).

The Campus Connector Garage 14 routes are still suspended

» Parking Decal Refunds

Parking Decal Refunds for April 2020

Due to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19, UF Transportation and Parking Services will provide students, faculty, and staff parking decal refunds for the month of April 2020. These refunds will be made in recognition of the early departure from campus by most students, the adjustment to online classes by faculty, and the movement to alternative work locations by many employees.

 

Student Parking Decal Refunds

All students who purchased an annual or semester parking decal valid for the month of April will receive a refund of $16.00. Students who purchased a decal for the Spring and Summer Semesters will receive a refund of $96.00, which includes the $16.00 for the month of April, plus $80 for the Summer Semester. Refunds will be made directly to your student account, by physical check, or by electronic funds transfer depending on your original method of payment.

 

Faculty and Staff Parking Decal Refunds

All faculty and staff members who have paid in full for their current parking decals will receive a refund for the month of April equivalent to one twelfth the annual cost of the decal (two standard payroll deductions). Regardless of your original method of payment, refunds will be made through a payroll reimbursement process and most refunds will appear in the April 24, 2020 paychecks.

 

Parking decal costs and refund amounts vary depending on the type of decal you own. If you have missed any payroll deductions or there is a balance due on your decal, the unpaid amount will be subtracted from this reimbursement and your refund will be reduced accordingly.

 

Summer Semester 2020 Parking Decal Requirements

Parking decal requirements and most parking restrictions have been lifted for the month of April 2020. To assure parking access for those who will continue to park on campus through the Summer Semester and to maintain a method to communicate any changes in parking restrictions during that time, parking decal requirements for all students, faculty, and staff will resume effective May 1, 2020 through August 16, 2020, but at no cost.

 

Additionally, effective May 1, 2020, the majority of decal restricted parking areas on campus will convert to “Any Decal” parking, meaning that vehicles displaying valid UF parking decals (including virtual decals) of any type (Orange, Blue, Green, Red, etc.), may park in these locations. Limited exceptions where standard decal requirements will remain in effect include gated parking areas at the Student Health Care Center, Tigert Hall, and UF Health, as well as at UF Health’s Heart and Vascular Neuromedicine Hospital (HVN) and South Employee Garages. Parking restrictions may be modified during the Summer Semester depending on parking demand.

 

Student Parking Decal Requirements

Students who may have left a car or scooter on campus without a Summer Semester parking decal must register it by ordering a no charge Summer Semester “virtual” decal by April 30, 2020 at web.taps.ufl.edu/portal/. You will not receive a physical decal and therefore will not need to return to campus to display it on your vehicle, but we will update your parking records and enforce this requirement accordingly.

 

Please do not bring vehicles to campus without a valid parking decal (including the option of a virtual decal) after May 1, 2020, even though there will be no charge for the decals at this time.

 

Students who anticipate bringing a car or scooter to campus after Sunday, August 16, 2020 must register their vehicles by ordering and paying for their new decals before parking them on campus. You may begin ordering new parking decals online beginning Friday, July 10, 2020.

 

Faculty and Staff Parking Decal Requirements

Paid decal parking will resume on Monday, August 17, 2020. You may begin ordering new parking decals online beginning Friday, July 10, 2020 at web.taps.ufl.edu/portal/. Please display your new decal on your vehicle by August 17, 2020.

 

Summary of Key Dates for Decal Requirements

  • August 17, 2020 – Paid decal parking resumes. All students, faculty, and staff must purchase new decals and display them on their vehicles by this date. Standard decal requirements and parking restrictions resume.

Effective Monday, March 16, SNAP service will be suspended as a proactive measure to support efforts in preventing the spread of COVID-19. It is nearly impossible to maintain a practical social distancing approach (6 feet distance) on a 15-passenger vehicle.

At this time, there is no specific date for resumption of service, but we encourage all customers to continue to check www.parking.ufl.edu and the TapRide app over the next few weeks for additional messaging on when service will resume.

During this time of limited public transportation capabilities, the University of Florida Police Department provides the following safety tips in an effort to assist members of the UF community.

  • Avoid walking alone if at all possible.
  • Always be alert and aware of your surroundings, particularly when wearing headphones/earbuds.
  • Stay in well-lighted areas, away from alleys, bushes, and entryways.
  • Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.
  • Wait for your ride indoors.
  • If using a ride share app, before entering the vehicle, match the license plate number of the car and the photo of the driver with the app. Ask the driver, “What’s my name?”
  • If someone bothers you, don’t be embarrassed to attract attention to yourself. Yell!
  • Trust your instincts. If a situation or location feels unsafe or uncomfortable do not remain there.
  • Please report criminal incidents and suspicious activities/individuals immediately to law enforcement by calling 9-1-1.

Gator Dining will continue to provide food services at The Fresh Food Company as well as limited retail locations throughout campus. Information on dining locations and hours of operation can be found on the Gator Dining website at gatordining.com.

Gator Dining Locations

Gator Dining will continue to provide the UF community with a robust dining program while adhering to enhanced safety measures consistent with UF Health and state guidance related to COVID-19. The current plan includes reopening of all locations for the fall semester under normal operating hours, but in adherence to physical distancing and other safety guidelines. The Gator Dining team will monitor operations daily and stay abreast of any changes in guidelines or direction regarding COVID-19 and adjust campus operations accordingly. Fall 2020 meal plan pricing remains the same as Fall 2019 pricing.

Gator Dining will adjust operating procedures to meet or exceed recommended UF Health and state guidelines related to COVID-19, in order to provide safe dining spaces and programming for the UF community.

The deadline to cancel Fall Meal plans is July 24, 2020. Please contact gatordining@admin.ufl.edu to cancel.

At this time, Passport Services and the Print Shop are closed. Mail Services is operating on its normal schedule. Mail is being delivered and picked up from departments as usual.

If a department no longer requires mail delivery, mail can be held at the campus postal facility located at 3030 Radio Rd. If a department desires to pick up mail at the postal facility, the department representative must notify mail services by e-mail indicating the individual(s) authorized to pick up mail and a copy of their Gator 1 ID Card. The individual picking up mail must present their Gator 1 ID Card.

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic, all Gator 1 Card requests for students are required to be submitted through the Distance Gator 1 Card Application Site.  The issuance process for a Gator 1 Card can be expedited once an online Zoom interview has been scheduled.  In lieu of the Zoom interview, students are welcome to visit the Gator 1 Card Office in person for processing to obtain their Gator 1 Card by the next business day. Also, Electronic Staff/Faculty Authorization submissions are required for all UF Employees, Departmental Associates, Affiliates, and visitors.

In order to maintain a safe environment, photo capturing is restricted in the Gator 1 Card office at this time.  Images submitted online/electronically will be used to process Gator 1 ID Cards.

In order to obtain a card, an official picture Identification is required (Driver’s License or Passport) and UFID number is needed. The cost is $15.00.

The Gator 1 Card office is on the Ground Floor of the Bookstore and Welcome Center adjacent to the Reitz Union. The hours are 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Gator 1 Card office at the Health Science Center will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays; 9:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. & 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cards will be mailed to the student’s permanent home address. Please email the Gator 1 Card team at gator1card@bsd.ufl.edu for other arrangements.

» Faculty/Staff

Faculty and Staff are to work with their department’s ID Card Authorizer to place a request for a Gator 1 Card. Please provide a photo to your department authorizer, and they will submit it with the Gator 1 Card request. The department authorizer can select where the card is sent. Either a campus PO Box or an off-campus address may be selected. Please email the Gator 1 Card team at gator1card@bsd.ufl.edu for other arrangements.

UF is canceling, postponing or, where feasible, moving all events to alternate virtual modes of participation until further notice.
