Staff Spotlight: Victor Beguiristain

Bio: Officer Victor Beguiristain, a South Florida native, graduated high school in Palm Beach where he was captain of the varsity cross country and track teams and a member of the marching band, National Honor Society, and VP of the National Spanish Honor Society.

Officer Beguiristain earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida where he competed in the UF Strong Gator competitions and was a member of the club rugby team his senior year.

Post-graduation, Officer Beguiristain attended the police academy, achieving class lieutenant, and seamlessly transitioned into his role as a police officer at the University of Florida Police Department.

“I am proud to be an American of Spanish heritage and, of course, a Florida Gator!”

WHAT DOES YOUR ROLE ENTAIL?

“I have been an officer on night shift patrol, day shift patrol, criminal investigation division (detective), critical incident response team (CIRT), explosion detection (K-9), and acting sergeant. I am currently assigned to the community services division as the recruiting officer. This role entails working with the community at various events and academies for the purposes of both crime prevention, as well as recruiting talented individuals to join the department.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT UF?

“My favorite part of working at UFPD is the development of lasting relationships with faculty, staff, and students, as well as those who visit our community.”

FUN FACT ABOUT YOU:

“I exercise 1-2 times every day, whether it’s weightlifting, running, swimming, or sports. I also love to play the piano!”
