Staff Spotlight: Jordan Drayton
Marketing Specialist
Bio: I’m originally from Moore Haven, Florida, a small town of about 1,600 people—where there are probably more cows than people! I came to Gainesville in 2014 to attend the University of Florida, and apparently, UF couldn’t get rid of me. After graduating, I started my professional career in marketing in 2019 and have been building my career in higher education ever since. Outside of work, I’m a proud cat mom to my one and only son, Oliver. In my free time, you can usually find me playing billiards. If you ever want to play a game, catch me at the Reitz Union—I’m always up for a challenge!
What is an identity you’re proud to share?
“I’m proud to share my identity as someone from a small-town Florida community who found my home at the University of Florida. Growing up in Moore Haven taught me the value of community, connection and staying true to yourself. Coming to Gainesville and building both my education and career here has become a huge part of who I am. I’m proud of where I came from, how far I’ve come and the communities I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of.”
What does your role entail?
“It may look like I’m on my phone all day, but I promise I’m working! As a Marketing Specialist for Transportation and Parking Services, I help tell the story of how people get around campus. I create social media content, develop campaigns and build the TAPS brand so that information is not only useful, but engaging and easy to understand. Basically, if you see a parking update, campaign, graphic or post from TAPS, there’s a good chance I had something to do with it.”
What is your favorite part about working at UF?
“My favorite part of working at UF is honestly just being on campus. I love walking around and seeing everything that’s happening. There’s always something going on, so I’m never bored! I also really enjoy getting to work with students and being part of the campus community. And if you’re still playing Pokémon GO, you already know this is basically the best place to work.”
Fun fact about you:
“I recently moved into a house with a pool, so at the ripe old age of 30, I finally learned how to swim! Better late than never, right?”
