Kevin Sowers Joins UF as Associate Vice President for Business Affairs

The University of Florida is excited to welcome Kevin Sowers as the new Associate Vice President for Business Affairs, beginning June 23.
Sowers brings more than 14 years of experience in higher education operations and financial strategy, and 11 years in the hospitality industry to his new role, where he will oversee a wide range of key areas, including Transportation and Parking Services, the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, Human Resources, and policy and event coordination.
“I am thrilled to join the Business Affairs team and help our division to live its mission and vision each day,” said Sowers. “I look forward to working with the staff and stakeholders across our campus and community to drive innovation, growth, and positive change.”
Kevin’s expertise in aligning operational priorities with financial goals will be critical as Business Affairs continues to enhance services, develop innovative solutions, and improve experiences for the UF community. He will also help lead efforts to review and refine policies and procedures, strengthen internal systems, and build collaborative partnerships both on campus and across the state.
Before joining UF, Kevin served as Assistant Vice President of Business Operations at the University of Central Florida, where he managed multiple auxiliary units, oversaw third-party contract relationships, and provided strategic guidance for budget planning. He holds an MBA from the University of Florida, a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UCF, and a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies with concentrations in marketing and public relations from Radford University.
“Kevin’s strong leadership, financial expertise, and alignment with our mission make him an ideal fit,” said Brandi Renton, Vice President for Business Affairs. “We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
