Transportation Operations Manager

Bio: Juliet is the Transportation Operations Manager for Transportation and Parking Services. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing. Over the course of her 30-year career, she has gained extensive experience in a variety of roles and industries, including U.S. Army Transportation, Graphic and Communications Services and the broader Transportation sector.

What is an identity you’re proud to share?

“I am proud to be the child of immigrant parents. My father was from Guyana, South America, and my mother is from Jamaica, in the West Indies. I have had the privilege of visiting both countries, each rich in tradition and home to diverse people. As Bob Marley said, “Out of Many, One People.”

I began my career in the U.S. Army, working in watercraft transportation where safety was critical to ensuring everyone returned home each day. I carried this training into the bus transportation industry, where it has remained a guiding principle throughout my career. My military background made me highly attentive to potential risks and helped me design effective safety programs at UF, which have successfully reduced accidents.”

What does your role entail?

“As the Transportation Operations Manager at UF, I oversee the daily operations of multiple transportation services, including Campus Connector, Gator Lift, Campus Cab by Lyft, SNAP and to a limited extent, RTS and micromobility. I ensure that our drivers with Commercial Driver’s Licenses remain compliant with FMCSA regulations and our non-CDL drivers are compliant with UF requirements. Additionally, I manage a fleet of more than 30 vehicles and conduct random inspections to verify that proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections are consistently performed so that the vehicles remain safe for all to ride.”

What is your favorite part about working at UF?

“I enjoy working at the University of Florida because it allows me to be part of something larger than myself. I value the opportunity to interact with students, experience the rich diversity of the campus and contribute to the energy that defines the university community. Knowing that my work helps make students’ daily lives easier during their time in college gives me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.”

Fun fact about you:

“Unlike many people, I don’t keep a bucket list of places to visit—I prefer to experience life to the fullest as opportunities arise. Travelling is one of my greatest passions. Some of the most memorable destinations I’ve visited because we are beach lovers include Mallorca, Spain—where I attended a Bruno Mars concert—the Maldives, Cairo, Thailand and Hong Kong. These are just a few of the remarkable places that have shaped my journeys. With passport in hand, I’m always ready to explore.”
