Assistant Director of Accounting

Bio: I joined the University of Florida in 2014, started at the College of Veterinary Medicine, where I spent five years. I later transitioned to Finance and Accounting in the Auxiliary Office and have been part of Business Services for nearly two years.

I am originally from Venezuela and move to the United States in 2008. I hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in accounting. With nearly 12 years at UF, I have gained experience in internal controls, internal billing, fiscal operations and auxiliary services, which has shaped my approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

What is an identity you’re proud to share?

“Outside of work, I am the proud parent of a three-year-old boy who keeps me busy and constantly reminds me of the importance of patience, balance and finding joy in everyday moments. I enjoy applying those same values at work by building strong relationships, supporting teams and continuously looking for ways to improve processes and better serve our campus community.”

What does your role entail?

In my role as Assistant Director of Accounting, I support the financial and accounting operations for Fee for Service Educational Activities (FSEA) and auxiliary units within Business Affairs. I work closely with departments to help them understand their finances, review rates and stay aligned with university policies and guidelines.

I collaborate regularly with the Director of Finance and campus partners, providing guidance on service center rate reviews, financial reporting and overall financial compliance. My goal is to make financial processes clear, approachable and practical, while helping departments operate efficiently and confidently.

What is your favorite part about working at UF?

“One of the things I enjoy most about working at the University of Florida is the diversity we have. It fosters collaboration, encourages new ideas and makes our campus a welcoming place for both employees and students.”

Fun fact about you:

“I enjoy playing sports and staying active, but my three-year-old son makes sure every day is unpredictable and full of energy, both on and off the field.”
