
Staff Spotlight: Kristina Ash
Assistant Communications Manager
Bio: Kristina Ash is the Assistant Communications Manager at the University of Florida Police Department. She initially joined UFPD in 2018 and returned in 2023 after serving as an Education and Training Specialist with UF Facilities Services. Sincer returning, she has focused on strengthening day-to-day operations, improving processes and supporting a team that operates in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Saint Leo University, has over 15 years of experience in government and public safety operations and is passionate about building strong teams, and finding ways to make challenging work more efficient and meaningful.
What is an identity you’re proud to share?
“I’m proud to be both a veteran and a working mom. Those roles have shaped who I am: resilient, adaptable and always focused on supporting the people around me.”
What does your role entail?
“I oversee training, quality assurance and daily operations within the UFPD Communications Division. My role is really about people, making sure our team has the tools, support and confidence they need to handle critical situations. Behind the scenes, I collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to continuously enhance the safety of our community through technology integration, practice and policy improvement, and proactive problem-solving.”
What is your favorite part about working at UF?
“My favorite part about working at UF is the opportunity to grow. The connections I’ve made here have opened doors to meaningful engagement and have had a positive impact on me both personally and professionally.”
