Performance Appraisal System (VIP)

Welcome to the Business Affairs “Valuing Individual Performance” (VIP) Appraisal System!

A message from the Vice President of Business Affairs…

As you are aware, in 2014, Business Affairs established a Performance Management system entitled Valuing Individual Performance, “VIP”. The Valuing Individual Performance (VIP) Performance Appraisal was designed to be a more effective and objective method of exempt employee evaluations while encouraging continued growth and development. The VIP also outlined and defined core competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) and behaviors, so employees could have a true knowledge of job application, goal alignment, and a viable plan to reach their goals.

Recently, the University’s Human Resource Services Department announced that the 2017-2018 performance management evaluation process will be postponed until further notice. As a result, Business Affairs will support the University’s decision, and postpone performance management evaluations for the 2017-2018 appraisal year (non-exempt and exempt).

However, if your employees are covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), e.g., Police Benevolent Association (PBA), American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), and require performance evaluations as stipulated by their respective agreements, please adhere to those requirements.

For TEAMS and USPS EXEMPT employees whose Collective Bargaining Agreements requires a performance evaluation to be conducted for the 2017-2018 appraisal period, click on the VIP Teams, USPS Exempt Performance Appraisal Form link above this message to access the mid-cycle review forms

All supervisors are required to monitor the performance of their employees, regardless of the absence of a performance management tool. Therefore, as always, feedback should be provided to all employees throughout the year.

Please contact your Business Affairs Human Resources Team for any performance related matters at 352-392-2333.
